Hey guys, here's my first "Music Monday" post!
Today I'll be sharing what I've been listening to a lot lately on Spotify. I listen to all types of music and I especially love to discover new music. Let me know if I should check anyone out, i'm entirely open to any recommendations. These aren't in any specific order.
Take a Walk by Passion Pit
Indie Pop
I really love this song because it's one of those nice songs you can just lay back, relax, and enjoy. It reminds me of one of my all time favorite places, Santa Monica. Passion Pit has a ton of great songs and I've had their songs in my library for quite a while now, but only recently have I started religiously listening to them, they're great!
Happiness by Red Velvet
K-Pop
This is definitely a stand-out on the list, most likely because it's K-Pop - something I normally do not listen to.. ever, really. However, I like to expand my music taste, and a good friend of mine is a huge fan. Listening to this song, though I don't quite understand much of what they're saying, there's an awesome melody and little dance beat that puts me in a good mood. I've also been learning about how K-Pop artists work and that's all very intriguing to me. I'm interested in learning more about these groups and also listening to more of their songs. The "no-english" thing kind of throws me off, but some of these groups/artists have english songs I can get into... so we'll see how it goes!
Boneless by Steve Aoki and Chris Lake
Electro-House
This song gets me in such a mood that not many songs can get me into.. it just makes me want to put my hands up, dance with all my friends, and just have a huge party. Steve Aoki makes a ton of great song and this is just one of the very few.. I love listening to pretty much all of his work.Black Widow by Iggy Azalea feat. Rita Ora
Rap, Pop
If you ever listen to the radio, chances are you've heard this song... many times. Though it's beginning to get played-out on the radio, I can't help but love it. Iggy has some really great songs on her new album The New Classic, and there was no doubt that this song would be one of her singles. Iggy's been doing amazingly on the charts lately, and I'm pretty sure this will match right up. The build-up of Rita Ora singing right into Iggy's rap is really nice, and the instrumental is even better.

Break Free by Ariana Grande and Zedd
Dance, Pop, Electric
Just like Black Widow(the song above), this song is played an insane amount on every single radio top-40 radio station. It is, though, a really great song. I tend to be a fan of pretty much everything Zedd produces, and this is just another great song by him. The chorus is infectious and I can't help but break into singing every time I hear it. This tune also makes me want to dance - a huge plus!
Phresh Out The Runway by Rihanna
Hip-Hop, Dance
Phresh Out The Runway is one of those songs that just gets me going. I started listening to this song a lot recently after hearing it getting played during my American Eagle Outfitter's photoshoot - it really put me in that zone I needed to be in. I've always been a huge fan of the song, but like I mentioned, lately I just can't stop playing it. It's a great song, and just like most of the songs on Rihanna's Unapologetic, it really gives off that "badass" vibe that I love.
Do It Again by Röyksopp and Robyn
Electropop
Robyn has a lot of really good songs I've listened to, but only recently have I discovered this song by her and Röyksopp and it's become one of my favorites by her. She has such a unique voice, and the electropop sound from her music is really great. The song is super catchy, and I love it!
Heavy Metal and Reflective by Azealia Banks
Hip-Hop, Trap
Azealia Banks is an artist that releases songs that I either hate or love - there's not really an inbetween. 212 is and has always been my favorite of hers, but this new song she just recently released as a promotional single for her new album (?) is a really close second. It has this unique, dark instrumental that just sounds so... cool.. for a lack of a better word. If Azealia releases more songs like this, that'll be a huge plus!
Venus by Lady Gaga
Dance, Pop, Synthpop
... And of course I had to end this with a Gaga song. For those of you who don't know, (If you don't know this yet, I don't really know where you've been) I'm a ridiculously huge Gaga fan and have been for 6, almost 7 years now. This song off of ARTPOP is one of my all-time favorites of hers. It's constantly stuck in my head and I literally never ever get sick of it. It's so fun - I always want to just break out in dance and sing every time I hear it. What makes it even that much better is that Gaga actually produced, wrote, and sang this song all herself. She's incredible. At the artRAVE (her tour) this is one of the biggest songs there, and after seeing it live twice, it brings back only the best of memories.
That's it for my "Music Monday" this week! It's my very first one, so I wanted to be elaborate. Hope you enjoyed what I had to say :) I strongly encourage you to listen to these songs and artists, and really put effort into expanding your music taste. It's so worth it! Also feel free to leave me any recommendations.
